The USAR team leader, Petr Vodíčka, said that after the first 40 buildings were checked, there were no signs of life among the people. “We did not find any signs of life, everything we found were bodies,” he said, adding that the team’s search was unsuccessful.
The materials also indicate that the rescuers could have been prevented from searching for survivors due to the damage to the buildings and the risk of further collapse. In total, they found about 150 bodies.
According to the information, the number of people found in Venezuela was about 70. The rescuers also said that the work was difficult, as the buildings were heavily damaged and the search had to be carried out in conditions of constant danger.
After the work was completed, the USAR team returned to the Czech Republic. The rescuers said that they had searched for survivors in the area and that they had not found any living people.
In Venezuela, the earthquake, according to the information, was followed by a tsunami that hit the area around Caracas. The materials also indicate that the total number of bodies found is still being determined, and the search continues.
