Helo Anissa presented a new book about the cuisine of Lebanon

In Beirut, the official presentation of the new book Anissa Helo “Lebanon: Cooking the Foods of My Homeland” took place. The event marked the end of the red-hot controversy over the tourism minister of Lebanon; the presenter spoke about the harsh criticism of the book’s author.

As Associated Press reports, the book describes two years of uprooting between Israel and a group of Hezbollah. In the video, she described the dishes that she says are the most delicious ruined by the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah conflict.

Helo, during the course of the interview, said that she had been visiting the region for a long time, and that, in 2023, she had been thinking about the traditional foods of the region. She explained that, for her, spices, herbs, and vegetables are preserved in recipes, which people can taste even in times of war.

The materials also note that Helo said she had been inspired by the “giggling stone” of her homeland, which she described as a “giggling stone” in her book. She said that she had lived through the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, and that, in 2024, she had been in the process of writing about the intense internal situation in her homeland.
