6 million purchases in Crimea are reported to have been affected by the blackout in all regions of the peninsula. According to Russian media, citing Interfax, and also the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind,” the cause was a new attack by Russian forces on Ukraine’s power system.
As the material explains the “Crimean Wind” blackout, the outage is believed to have been caused by the strike of high-voltage power lines. The material also states that the blackout was reported to have occurred in Crimea after the strike on the power system.
The “Crimean Wind” material says that the blackout was caused by the destruction of 330-kilovolt power lines “Simferopol” in the Strahonivka area. According to the report, power was cut off; it also notes that the repair work is expected to continue until 25 April 2026.
Head of Sevastopol’s administration Mykhailo Razvozhaiev said that the power outage was caused by the strike of Russian forces “through the destruction of power lines in Ukraine.” He also said that the situation is being assessed in the Danqoisk district of the Kherson region.
Ukrenergo also said that, according to Ukrinform, as of 6 million without electricity in six regions. It also said that the blackout was reported in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts as a result of a missile and drone strike on civil energy infrastructure.
Ukrenergo added that the repair work will be carried out after the damage is assessed. According to Ukrinform, a total of 58 substations in Sumy Oblast were left without power, and the repairs are underway at the damaged lines.
