According to Ballinger, the standoff lasted no longer than an hour. Most of the time, the suspect was shot from 40 miles (64 kilometers) away in Cleveland.

Ballinger said that the 911 call began at around 9:30 p.m. After that, he said, he heard “some type of disturbance and shots fired.” After that, the officer arrived at the scene, and the officer said that he “immediately started taking fire.”
