Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG) won the 3rd stage of Tour de France 2026, which ended in Les Angles, taking the victory by a solo breakaway. Pogacar had already established a lead in the first part, and then, with absolute superiority over the final stretch, he left all his rivals behind.

In the overall standings for the 3rd stage, Pogacar finished in 8h46'55'', with Vingegaard 0'' behind. Remarkably, Evenepoel was 23'' behind, while Ayzek Del Toro was +24''. The same stage also saw Pol Seykhas (Decathlon-CMA CGM) finish 48'' down, and Lennnart Martines (Bahrain Victorious) 1'09'' behind.

On the same stage, third position went to Richard Carapaz (EF Education-Easy Post). The top 10 also included Pavel Seykhas, Tobias Galland Yohanessen (Uno-X Mobility), Lennnert van Eetvelt (Lotto Intermarché), Florian Lipovici (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), Remco Evenepoel, Ayzek Del Toro, and Thor to the end by Auaso (Lidl-Trek).

In a comment to Eurosport microphone, Pogacar said that, in his view, the decisive moment came “right in the middle of the stage”. He also added that Pogacar had broken down the plan “to go on the attack” and that is why he was able to secure the win with such a large margin.
