China approves countermeasures against US drone firms

  • China approves countermeasures against US: it will block drone firms from the US from entering its market.
  • The Chinese sanctions are aimed at companies that are involved in the import of drones by the US and in the import of components for drones, and also at companies that are involved in the import of drones by the US to the country.
  • China also reserves the right to take further measures, including against electronic components for drones, and against other companies involved in the import of drones, without specifying which ones.

China’s countermeasures target US companies involved in the sale and export of drones to the United States, which violates US rules.

The Ministry of Commerce of China said it was taking action after the US imposed sanctions on Chinese drone firms, citing the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.

The Ministry of Commerce also said it would take measures to prevent US companies from benefiting from the sale of drones, including by restricting access to the Chinese market.

In addition, the ministry said it would consider further steps if the US continues to impose restrictions on Chinese companies.

The ministry said the new rules are aimed at protecting the rights and interests of Chinese companies.

China’s measures are expected to take effect immediately.
