SoftBank Group Corp. reduced its stake in Arm by 18% at the company’s latest financial statement, citing a decline in the value of its investment in the company. As a result, the company’s stake in Arm fell from 347.3 billion yen (2.2 billion dollars) to 421.8 billion yen over the year.
In addition, the company’s stake in ByteDance fell from 11% to 2% (12.7 billion dollars). Financial director Yoshimitsu Goto said that, despite SoftBank’s stake in Arm, the company is developing it further.
As for OpenAI, the company plans to invest 20 billion dollars more. The material also notes that the results of SoftBank Group may be linked to investments made through Vision Fund in the company.
SoftBank’s investments include ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok), Intel Corp., PayPay (Japanese mobile payment platform), and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC. The company was founded in 1981 by Masayoshi Son; on average, profits, which were generated by the company, are expected to grow automatically through ABB Robotics, which is used in the field and automates industrial operations.
SoftBank Group, as stated in its materials, does not publish detailed information. Meanwhile, SoftBank Group’s stake in TikTok was reduced by 4%.
