Google Maps is rolling out Ask Maps agentic features

  • Google is rolling out Ask Maps features in Google Maps that allow users to order food and book hotels via the service.
  • In the US, users will be able to integrate Square and Toast and use Uber Eats to place orders through Ask Maps.
  • Personal Intelligence processes user-provided input, while providing transport in real time that shows what is happening and how.

According to TechCrunch and The Verge, Google is adding agentic AI features to Ask Maps.

Google announced that it is rolling out AI-instrumented Ask Maps features to Google Maps. The update includes agentic capabilities that can help with booking hotels and ordering food, thanks to Personal Intelligence.

Google says that in the US, users will be able to link Ask Maps with Google Maps and, for example, find restaurants, place orders, and book hotels—depending on the service; the update will also support Square and Toast; and Uber Eats.

Ask Maps can also help with trip planning. Once users sign in, Ask Maps, with the help of Personal Intelligence, can review what is available and provide suggestions on what to do during the trip, based on their preferences.

Overall, Ask Maps is designed to make it easier to plan and navigate. With material such as personal details, the instrument can display what you might like, such as music recommendations, based on your preferences.

Personal Intelligence also enables transport in real time, which Google says can help with hotel bookings and travel planning. The Verge noted that, as of today, Ask Maps rolled out in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan and Mexico.
