Bose has introduced another QuietComfort model of wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. The company says the new design and the new Immersive Audio feature deliver a more immersive sound experience, which it claims you will not get with QuietComfort Ultra.

According to the materials, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) cost $359. Preorders begin on 8 September via Bose’s online store, with shipping expected to start 13 September. Availability colors: black, white smoke, eucalyptus green, dewdrop mint and rosewood mauve.

Immersive Audio on QuietComfort (2nd Gen) creates an immersive sense of sound around your head. Bose says the headphones’ materials are designed to help deliver an effect with a “sweet spot” that shifts with your head movement, or can be adjusted depending on your listening position.

ANC on the new QuietComfort is also improved. The Verge reports that Aware mode reduces the intensity of background noise, while the microphones can pick up voices more clearly and separate them from surrounding sounds. ZDNet adds that the microphones can also reduce background noise, and that the sound may be more natural.

The new model uses Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, and wired listening is supported via USB-C for lossless audio; it also supports wired listening with a 3.5mm adapter. Bose says battery life is up to 24 hours with Immersive Audio turned off, or up to 18 hours with Immersive Audio enabled, and up to 15 hours with a wired connection; charging via USB-C allows the headphones to be used while charging.

ZDNET also notes that QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) support 3.5mm audio for connecting to analog systems, and also support USB-C audio with 24-bit/48kHz lossless playback. Still, Motion and Cinema modes use TrueSpatial technology.
