Azerbaijan is ready to supply natural gas to Ukraine regardless of the terms of the contract, the Azerbaijani foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on the sidelines of a briefing in Kyiv.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan plans to supply gas to 16 countries, including up to 13 European countries and 10 EU member states. He added that the supply between Baku and Kyiv will be implemented in accordance with the terms of an agreement between the two countries.
Bayramov also said the Azerbaijani state oil and gas company SOCAR is implementing a project to expand gas production, as well as a plan to increase gas production between the countries.
In response to Bayramov’s statement, Ukraine’s foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said that the Azerbaijani side has no intention of stopping gas supplies to Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine has a contract with Azerbaijan’s partners and that is why gas supplies will continue.
He also noted that Ukraine plans to purchase gas in the winter period, and that the amount depends on the contract terms. He added that the project is expected to be completed on schedule.
As for the Crimea, given the ongoing process of de-occupation, Ukraine plans to keep purchasing gas for the winter period in line with the heating season 2026/2027, with 14.6 billion cubic metres of gas.
